Location: Bromley (cross site)
Salary: Highly competitive DOE
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Contract until 26th September 2025

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Safeguarding Officer to play a pivotal role in protecting and supporting students across multiple college sites. You will work closely with staff, external agencies, and the Group Head of Safeguarding to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice, in line with statutory requirements.
Key responsibilities
* Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, handling safeguarding concerns and referrals in a timely, effective manner
* Build strong relationships with external agencies such as social care, police, and health services
* Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records in line with data protection regulations
* Support the implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures, and ‘Prevent’ initiatives
* This role requires travel between college sites and occasional evening work.
* Deliver safeguarding training and awareness sessions to staff and students
* Provide guidance and advice to colleagues on safeguarding matters
* Support Looked After Children and Young Care Leavers, liaising with relevant services
About you
* You will have a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practice
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive cases with professionalism and discretion
* Experience in an educational setting, liaising with multi-agency partners, and delivering safeguarding training will be highly valued.
Essential skills and qualifications
* Relevant safeguarding qualification or willingness to work towards one
* Welcoming, empathetic, student-centred approach
* Experience of working in a safeguarding role with young people 16-25 and vulnerable adults
* Knowledge/experience of working with learners where English is a second language
* Ideally, experience of working in an FE/Education setting
* Awareness of current safeguarding concerns/priorities for young people, including online safety
* Experience of partnership working - LA, Children's Social Care, Police, YJS, Probation service, etc.
* Good communication skills and record keeping
* Experience in conflict resolution
* Knowledge of CPOMS is an advantage
* Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
* Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
* Commitment to professional standards and safeguarding values
