Senior Engineer – Regional Main Contractor (Steel Frame Warehouses)
Location: East Anglia / Ipswich
Salary: Up to £75,000 + Company Truck or Car Allowance + Pension + Healthcare + Bonus
About the Company
Our client is a regional self-delivery main contractor with a strong reputation for quality, technical excellence, and repeat business in the industrial and logistics sector. With over 7 million sq ft of new-build warehouse and distribution projects in the pipeline, they deliver fast-track steel frame schemes ranging from £10m to £80m across the UK.
Due to continued growth and multiple new project awards, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join their delivery team on large-scale steel frame warehouse developments.
The Role
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing and delivering complex new-build industrial projects from early groundwork stages through to steel erection, envelope, and internal fit-out. Working as part of an experienced site team, you’ll oversee all engineering, quality, and technical elements of the project, ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all engineering activities across multiple major new-build steel frame warehouse projects.
* Manage setting out, dimensional control, and verification for foundations, holding-down bolts, and structural frames.
* Review drawings and technical documents to identify discrepancies and ensure buildability.
* Supervise and coordinate subcontractors including groundworks, steel, cladding, and civils packages.
* Oversee the erection of steel frames, ensuring compliance with structural tolerances and safety standards.
* Implement and monitor quality control procedures and ensure accurate record keeping and as-built documentation.
* Liaise with design teams and consultants to resolve technical queries and manage design changes.
* Ensure compliance with all HSEQ requirements, promoting a positive safety culture on site.
* Track progress against programme and report updates to the Project Manager and Contracts Manager.
* Mentor and support site engineers and junior staff to maintain strong technical standards.
* Represent the company in meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
About You
* Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
* Proven experience working for a main contractor on new-build industrial / warehouse or steel frame projects.
* Strong understanding of setting out, structural steel erection, and civils works.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
* SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid qualifications preferred.
* Full UK driving licence required.
