Lead Site Manager – Main Contractor
Taunton|Devon/Somerset borders £55,000 – £65,000 DOE + Car Allowance + Benefits

JHR Recruitment is working with a well-established, privately owned main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across the South West. Due to continued growth and a secured pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Lead Site Manager to take responsibility for a key project in Taunton.

The Project

You will lead the delivery of a £5m design & build scheme, commercial steel frame scheme. This is a technically focused project requiring strong coordination, programme management, and attention to detail to ensure minimal disruption and high-quality execution.

The Role

As Lead Site Manager, you will take full site responsibility, reporting to a visiting contracts manager and overseeing all site operations from start to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  * Managing day-to-day site activities and subcontractors

  * Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification

  * Coordinating trades and managing site logistics on a live environment

  * Driving quality standards and ensuring compliance with design requirements

  * Monitoring progress and reporting to senior management

  * Maintaining strong client relationships on site

  * Ensuring all H&S procedures and company policies are adhered to

About You

  * Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager / Lead Site Manager with a main contractor

  * Experience delivering commercial or public sector new build projects

  * Strong knowledge of design & build projects

  * SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualified

  * Excellent organisational and communication skills

  * Ability to lead teams and drive programme on site
