Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead the on-site delivery of a multi-million-pound commercial development in Peterborough, from groundworks through to practical completion and handover. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile community facility, managing all aspects of site operations to ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Delivery

  * Take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to specification

  * Manage the build programme from groundworks through structure, envelope, fit-out, and handover

  * Coordinate all site activities, ensuring effective sequencing and resourcing of trades

  * Monitor progress against programme, proactively identifying and resolving delays or issues

Team & Subcontractor Management

  * Lead and manage site teams, including directly employed labour and subcontractors

  * Conduct regular subcontractor progress meetings and performance reviews

  * Motivate and manage a multi-disciplinary site team to maintain productivity and morale

  * Carry out site inductions and ensure all operatives are appropriately trained and competent

Health & Safety

  * Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations and site-specific health & safety procedures

  * Maintain and enforce robust RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements) across all site activities

  * Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety briefings

  * Maintain a strong safety culture, aiming for zero incidents

Quality & Compliance

  * Ensure build quality meets specification, drawings, and building regulations

  * Liaise with Building Control, NHBC/other warranty providers, and relevant authorities as required

  * Manage snagging and defects processes through to practical completion

  * Ensure all technical submissions, O&M manuals, and handover documentation are accurate and complete

Commercial & Reporting

  * Work closely with the Site/Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on cost control and variations

  * Manage material deliveries, logistics, and site set-up efficiently

  * Provide regular progress reports to senior management and, where required, the client

  * Support programme and commercial reporting to ensure project targets are met
