Job Description

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Senior Site Manager to join a growing regional main contractor to lead the delivery of commercial, industrial, education and healthcare projects across the North East. Typical schemes range from £250k refurbishments through to £3m–£5m new‑build and extension projects, combining elements of civils, steelwork, fit‑out and building services.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys taking full ownership of projects from pre‑start through to successful handover.

The Role

As Senior Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of live construction sites, ensuring programme, quality, safety and commercial targets are consistently achieved. You will lead subcontractors, coordinate with internal teams, and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants.

You will oversee projects including:

  * 

    Commercial refurbishments and fit‑outs (£250k–£2m)

  * 

    Industrial unit alterations and small new builds (£1m–£5m)

  * 

    Education and healthcare refurbishments (£500k–£3m)

  * 

    Civils and external works packages

Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Lead site operations from pre‑construction through to handover

  * 

    Manage subcontractors, labour, materials and logistics

  * 

    Ensure compliance with H&S, CDM and company procedures

  * 

    Drive programme performance and maintain accurate site records

  * 

    Coordinate with design, commercial and project management teams

  * 

    Conduct progress meetings and produce site reports

  * 

    Maintain high standards of workmanship and client satisfaction

  * 

    Oversee quality control, snagging and final completion

About You

  * 

    Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager

  * 

    Background delivering refurbishment, small works, commercial or industrial projects

  * 

    Strong understanding of H&S, CDM, temporary works and construction sequencing

  * 

    Excellent communication and leadership skills

  * 

    Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain tight control of programme

  * 

    SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS essential
