Position: Children’s Social Care – Senior Social Worker (MOU)
Location: Durham Council
Hourly Rate: £32
Are you a qualified and experienced social worker with a strong understanding of data protection legislation and a passion for safeguarding children's information? Durham County Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Children’s Social Care team to lead and support the processing of Subject Access Requests (SARs) in line with legal and regulatory standards.
* Process subject access requests (SARs) in line with the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
* Redact third-party and sensitive information to maintain compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
* Liaise with internal departments to obtain all relevant documentation in a timely and efficient manner.
* Maintain accurate records of all requests, responses, and actions taken.
* Provide expert advice and guidance on information governance and data protection issues.
* Ensure that all information handling practices align with council policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For:
* Degree in Social Work.
* Current Social Work England Registration.
* Successful completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).
* Proven experience in records management, data protection, or a similar role.
* Strong working knowledge of the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
* Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive data securely and confidently.
* Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and meet deadlines effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
