Senior Structural Engineer
£50,000 - £63,000 + Bonus + Hybrid

Are you a Structural Engineer looking to take the next step into leadership - whether that's as a Principal, Associate, or even Director Designate - within a growing and forward-thinking consultancy that values flexibility, autonomy, and personal progression?
On offer is the opportunity to join a well-established civil and structural engineering consultancy with around 35 employees, based just outside Cardiff. Established in 2012, they've developed a strong and diverse portfolio across residential, housing associations, renewable energy (wind and solar), and rail projects - ensuring no single market dominates more than 30% of their workload.
Following a leadership transition as the Managing Director phases out of the business, this position represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer to step up and help steer the company forward during its next phase of growth and expansion. You'll take ownership of ongoing client relationships and active projects, including residential developments, steel frame structures, temporary works, and major refurbishments (including projects like a 10-storey refurb in London). You'll also mentor junior engineers, oversee design quality, and provide strategic input alongside the directors.
This is a key role for someone looking to progress within a close-knit consultancy that offers genuine career advancement up to Directorship, flexibility (including hybrid working and family-first policies), and a Platinum Bupa health plan.
The Role:
Lead and manage a team of Engineers and Technicians
Take over existing client relationships and build new ones
Deliver projects across residential and steel-frame sectors
Oversee temporary works and building structure designs
Liaise directly with clients and other design professionals
Support junior staff and provide technical guidance
Monday to Friday (40 hours) - flexible start/finish
Opportunity to move into Associate or Director-level position
The Person:
Experienced Structural Engineer (Senior / Principal / Associate / Director level)
Skilled in temporary works, steel frame, and building structure design
Confident managing teams and handling client relationships
Experience in residential or large-scale refurb projects
