Senior Structural Engineer Locations: UK - Various Locations Working Pattern: Hybrid Sector: Industry & Infrastructure The Opportunity Are you an experienced Senior Structural Engineer looking for a role where you can take ownership of projects, develop your technical expertise and work alongside talented engineers on a genuinely diverse range of projects? We are currently recruiting for Senior Structural Engineers to join a growing Industry & Infrastructure team within a leading international engineering and consultancy organisation. The team delivers technically challenging projects across a broad range of sectors, including rail, aviation, energy, manufacturing, data centres and other critical infrastructure. This variety means you'll have the opportunity to work across different sectors and project types rather than being restricted to one particular market. You'll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from early feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction, working alongside structural, civil, MEP, environmental and other specialist disciplines. The Role As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will take responsibility for delivering structural engineering solutions across a range of projects, while developing your client-facing, technical and leadership skills. Your responsibilities will include: Taking responsibility for the delivery of structural engineering design on projects appropriate to your experience. Developing structural concepts and practical design solutions across a range of materials and building types. Applying sound engineering judgement to solve complex technical problems. Designing structures using steel, concrete and/or timber. Liaising with clients, architects, contractors and other members of the design team. Taking ownership of your work and contributing to successful project delivery. Supporting, mentoring and developing less experienced engineers and technicians. Contributing to innovative, efficient and sustainable structural design solutions. Considering opportunities to reduce embodied carbon and make better use of existing assets. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the UK and, where appropriate, international teams. Supporting the continued development and growth of the wider structural engineering capability. About You We're looking for a technically capable and commercially aware Structural Engineer who enjoys solving problems and working collaboratively with others. You'll ideally have: Chartered status with IStructE, ICE or an international equivalent. Professional experience working as a Structural Engineer within a consultancy or similar engineering environment. Strong experience in structural design using steel, concrete and/or timber. A sound understanding of building construction and structural engineering principles. Experience working on complex or technically challenging projects. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain engineering principles clearly to clients and other project stakeholders. The confidence to take ownership of your work and project responsibilities. Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers and technicians. A collaborative approach and an interest in multidisciplinary working. A genuine curiosity about engineering and a desire to find better, more efficient solutions. An interest in sustainable engineering and reducing the environmental impact of projects. Experience in one or more of the following sectors would be advantageous: Rail Aviation Energy Manufacturing Data Centres Critical Infrastructure Experience across multiple sectors would be particularly beneficial.
