Senior Planner
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded multi-disciplinary consultancy in their search for a Senior Planner to join their growing team in Newcastle.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take on a varied and rewarding role within a supportive and forward-thinking environment. You'll be joining a well-established planning team delivering high-quality advice to a diverse mix of public and private sector clients.
The successful candidate will work on a broad range of projects across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, education, leisure, energy, and infrastructure sectors. From managing complex planning applications to leading on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), this is a chance to be involved in work that shapes the built and natural environment for the better.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a variety of planning projects from inception to completion
Provide strategic advice to clients across various planning regimes (including Marine, Environmental, Renewable, and Major Infrastructure)
Prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring alignment with national and local policies
Coordinate and deliver Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
Build strong working relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
Support and mentor junior team members
Stay up to date with planning legislation, policies, and best practiceAbout You
We're looking for a proactive, commercially aware planner with excellent communication and project management skills.
You will have:
A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
A minimum of 3 years' planning experience (private or public sector)
Chartered membership of the RTPI (or working towards it)
Experience in EIA management is desirable
A collaborative and professional approach
