Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home

Salary: £28,080 per annum + £50 per sleep-in (8–10 sleep-ins per month)

About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team in a residential children’s home in Northampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children and young people aged 8–17 who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect to rebuild their lives in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.
Working on a structured 24-hour shift pattern (1 day on, 2 days off), you will also be required to complete 8–10 sleep-ins per month, paid at £50 each.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people in line with their individual care plans.

Take on shift-leading responsibilities, ensuring routines, activities, and care standards are maintained.
*
Act as a positive role model and promote the physical, emotional, and social development of the young people.
*
Manage challenging behaviour in a consistent, therapeutic, and trauma-informed way.
*
Support education, health, and social development goals, attending meetings and liaising with external professionals as required.
*
Supervise and support junior staff, helping to maintain a consistent, high-quality care environment.
*
Ensure accurate record-keeping, including daily logs, incident reports, safeguarding documentation, and care planning.

Promote safeguarding and protect the rights and welfare of all children in your care.
About You:
*
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential childcare or similar setting.
*
Hold or be working towards a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
*
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage and support a team during shifts.
*
Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed care practices.

Able to work 24-hour shifts and regular sleep-ins.
