My client is a UK-based specialist engineering company operating at the forefront of hazardous materials management. They design and manufacture advanced systems that allow safe, invasive access into sealed or pressurised containers—supporting critical missions across the defence, civil nuclear, emergency response, and oil & gas sectors. They work directly with some of the world’s leading organisations, helping them tackle complex and dangerous challenges. Their technology plays a vital role in making the world a safer place — by enabling teams to investigate, neutralise, and dispose of the worlds most dangerous hazards. As their international footprint expands, we are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Service Engineer to help them deliver exceptional technical support, both in the field and in-house.
The Role
* This is a key technical and customer-facing role. As Service Engineer, you’ll be a frontline representative of Valent—providing commissioning, servicing, and on-site support to customers in high-consequence environments.
The role will be split between:
* Workshop-based work (approx. 50%) at our facility in the West Midlands
* Field-based deployments (approx. 50%) to customer sites, including frequent overseas travel
* You’ll not only ensure our equipment functions reliably and safely — you’ll also help strengthen trust and confidence with our customers. Your presence and performance in the field will be a core part of our value proposition.
Key Responsibilities
* Commission, service and maintain equipment at HQ and on-site with customers
* Represent the company with professionalism, confidence and technical clarity
* Deliver high-quality support and troubleshooting under operational pressures
* Communicate with end-users and technical teams to ensure effective use of equipment
* Feed insights from the field back into engineering and product development
* Maintain accurate service records and help improve internal processes
* Support in-house builds and learn core machining processes as part of training
Required Skills and Experience
* Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
* Familiarity with pneumatic systems or willingness to learn
* Experience in customer-facing technical roles—ideally in high-integrity sectors
* Calm, professional, and methodical in troubleshooting and communication
* Able to work independently and travel regularly, including short-notice overseas trips
* UK Citizenship
* UK driving licence and valid passport required
