Service Manager - localities
3-month initial interim contract to start ASAP

£400-£450 per day
Inside IR35 (via umbrella)
Hybrid working 2/3 days on site per week

As the Service Manager, you will lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality services for children and young people, including those with disabilities and complex needs. You will be responsible for safeguarding their welfare, improving outcomes across health, education, and social care, and ensuring their voices are central to service design and decision-making.
Your Role as Service Manager:
Lead the safeguarding and promotion of wellbeing for children and young people, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties, ensuring their voices influence care and service planning
Develop and deliver a robust annual service improvement plan aligned with strategic priorities, preparing for inspections and striving for 'Good' or 'Outstanding' ratings
Provide effective leadership, supervision, and coaching to staff and carers, ensuring high standards of practice through performance reviews and professional development
Ensure service-wide compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and the Quality Assurance and Performance Management framework, including case audits
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partners, stakeholders, and regulators, fostering trust in service quality and outcomes
Manage service budgets responsibly, ensuring alignment between policy, resource planning, and financial controlYour previous experience as Service Manager:
Master's or BA in Social Work, or Diploma in Social Work, CQSW, CSS, or other professional qualification recognised by HCPC for UK social work registration
Significant experience as a practitioner and as a service manager or supervisor of social workers
Excellent understanding of national policy, legislation, guidance, and evidence-based social work theory related to statutory social work
Strong applied knowledge of the Integrated Children’s System (e.g., Mosaic)
Good understanding of learning and development frameworks for both qualifying and post-qualifying social workers
Ability to mentor, coach, supervise, and support a team of qualified social workers and other staff
Strong presentation and report writing skills
Proficient IT and word processing skills
