Job Description

Service Manager - Quality Assurance & Practice Development Purpose of the Role To lead quality assurance and practice improvement activity across Childrens Services, ensuring high-quality social work practice that delivers positive outcomes for children, young people and families. The postholder will oversee audit and quality assurance frameworks, support service improvement programmes, promote organisational learning, and contribute to inspection readiness while ensuring childrens voices inform service development. Key Responsibilities Lead quality assurance, audit and dip-sampling activity across Childrens Services. Analyse performance and practice data to identify trends, strengths and areas for improvement. Drive service improvement initiatives to enhance practice standards and outcomes. Support Ofsted inspection preparation and improvement planning. Promote the involvement of children, young people and families in shaping services. Produce quality assurance reports and provide practice insights to senior leaders. Support workforce development through training, coaching and practice learning. Contribute to policy development and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Develop positive partnerships with internal teams, agencies and regional networks. Essential Requirements Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. Significant experience within Childrens Social Care, including management or supervisory experience. Strong knowledge of quality assurance frameworks, safeguarding, performance management and audit processes. Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children. Experience of service improvement, inspection preparation and partnership working. Excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills. Key Outcomes Improved quality of social work practice.
