Setting Out Engineer – Civils & Groundworks
North Devon (Various Sites)
Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £45-55,000 DOE + benefits

Our client is a well-established and reputable civils and groundworks contractor based in Devon, delivering high-quality projects across the South West.
The Role
They are seeking a skilled and motivated Setting Out Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a key role where you’ll be responsible for accurate setting out, quality assurance, and technical support across a wide variety of civil engineering and groundworks projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Accurately set out for all construction activities including foundations, drainage, roads, steel frames, retaining walls, and external works
* Carry out site surveys, as-builts, and quality checks including line and level surveys
* Read and interpret construction drawings and plans
* Provide technical support to site teams and resolve design-related issues
* Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and architects
* Maintain accurate records of work, surveys, and quality checks
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer on civils or groundworks projects
* Proficient in the use of GPS, total stations, and AutoCAD
* Solid understanding of foundation types, drainage systems, and reinforced concrete structures
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Full UK driving licence
