Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Huddersfield
Salary: 30-35K DOE
XCL Group are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Quality Engineer to join our clients manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all sheet metal products and fabrication processes meet internal and customer quality standards, as well as compliance with relevant ISO standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems specific to sheet metal fabrication and assembly processes.
* Conduct inspections, audits, and root cause analyses to ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
* Lead internal and external quality audits in accordance with ISO 9001 standards.
* Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
* Monitor quality KPI’s (scrap, rework, customer complaints) and prepare reports for managements review
* Support inspection process including dimensional checks, material traceability and finish requirements
* Participate in new product introduction (NPI) processes to ensure quality requirements are defined and met.
* Liaise with customers and suppliers to address quality concerns and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Job Requirements:
* Previous experience in a quality engineering or similar role within sheet metal or fabrication is essential
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 is a requirement
* A good understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is advantageous
* Experience with route cause analysis, problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why’s, Fishbone)
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Competent in using inspection tools (Callipers, micrometres, height gauges)
Qualifications:
* HNC/HND or degree in mechanical/ manufacturing engineering is desirable- not essential
* ISO 9001 qualification

Monday – Thursday
