Job Description
Sheet Metal Supervisor required for a respected provider of precision sheet metal, welding, and fabrication services based in Ipswich. The company deliver custom-engineered solutions to clients across various industries, with a commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation. We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Engineer/Supervisor to oversee a team of skilled fabricators and welders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with leadership ability, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Sheet Metal Supervisor Job Overview
Supervise and coordinate the work of a team of 5 shop-floor employees (welders, press brake operators, punch operators, etc.)
Interpret and work from engineering drawings to guide production and ensure accuracy
Provide hands-on support with welding, fabrication, and related tasks when required
Review job requirements and compile accurate, competitive quotations
Ensure quality control standards are met across all projects
Monitor and manage workflow to meet tight deadlines
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions
Communicate effectively with team members and management
Promote a safe, productive, and collaborative working environment
Sheet Metal Supervisor Job Requirements
Strong background in sheet metal work, welding, and fabrication
Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
Capable of producing quotations based on material, time, and labor assessments
Hands-on approach with a willingness to support production activities when needed
Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
High level of communication and organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities
Self-motivated, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement
Sheet Metal Supervisor Salary & Benefits
Salary: £35,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and skills)
Holiday: 188 hours annual leave plus all bank holidays
Pension: Company pension scheme
Health Insurance: Private health cover available after 3 years of service
