Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our dedicated team responsible for maintaining building systems and services within a high-profile commercial property in central London. This role operates on a rotating shift pattern to ensure round-the-clock support, maintaining the continuous and efficient operation of all critical building services. Key Responsibilities: * Perform both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, BMS, lighting, power distribution, pumps, motors, and life safety systems. * Conduct fault-finding and diagnostics on building systems to ensure timely resolution and minimal operational disruption. * Assist in the execution of the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule, ensuring compliance with industry standards and statutory requirements. * Respond promptly to building alarms and emergency scenarios, taking decisive action and escalating issues when necessary. * Accurately maintain logs and records of maintenance activities, faults, and system performance. * Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure service excellence and smooth building operations. Requirements: * 3–5 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, ideally within a commercial or critical environment. * Recognised mechanical or electrical engineering qualifications, such as City & Guilds, BTEC, HNC, HND, BEng, or BSc. (International qualifications should be accompanied by a statement of compatibility.) * Solid understanding of building systems such as BMS, HVAC, lighting, UPS, emergency power, AHUs, FCUs, and associated plant and controls. * Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure in a dynamic environment. * Good communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
