Job Description
A global organisation are looking for a hands-on Shift Manager to lead a team of around 30 colleagues across our modern manufacturing facility in Barnstaple.
The Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality running of production during your shift. You’ll drive operational performance through effective leadership, data-driven decision-making, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing and motivating a team of approximately 30 production and support staff.
*
Delivering against key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, output, waste, and efficiency.
*
Embedding LEAN and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies to enhance performance and reduce downtime.
*
Coordinating daily shift activities, ensuring adherence to production schedules and standard operating procedures.
*
Leading shift handovers and reporting on performance to site management.
*
Promoting a culture of safety, engagement, and accountability.
About You
You’ll be a confident and proactive leader with experience in a similar manufacturing or packaging environment. You understand how to balance people management with performance delivery and are passionate about developing teams to achieve their best.
Essential skills and experience:

Proven track record in a supervisory or shift management role in a production setting.
*
Strong understanding of KPIs, production metrics, and performance improvement tools.
*
Experience implementing or working within LEAN / Continuous Improvement frameworks.
*
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
*
Flexible and adaptable to a 2-week rotating double day shift pattern.
