Job Description

Shift Technician (Contract – 12 Months) Location: Cumbria Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 + Benefits Job Type: Fixed-Term (12 Months) Industry: Power Generation About the Role We are recruiting for an Operator Technician to join a Power Generation Facility on a fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the plant. You will monitor and control plant systems, respond to operational demands, and support continuous improvement across site. The site operates within a high-hazard, COMAH-regulated environment, offering valuable experience in a safety-critical industry. Key Responsibilities * Support start-up, shutdown, and emergency shutdown of plant systems * Operate and monitor plant performance using DCS (Distributed Control System) * Interpret plant data and adjust operating parameters to optimise performance * Ensure compliance with COMAH regulations and site safety procedures * Maintain awareness of Major Accident Hazards (MAH) and emergency protocols * Monitor plant efficiency, minimising cost while maintaining environmental compliance * Carry out process analysis and contribute to operational improvements * Follow direction from the Shift Manager to meet operational targets * Provide operational support and guidance to colleagues across teams Skills & Experience * Experience in a continuous process / production / power generation environment * Understanding of health, safety, and environmental (SHE) systems * Ability to work effectively as part of a shift team * Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines * Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook * Experience working in COMAH or high-hazard environments (advantageous) What’s in it for You? * Salary of £35,000 – £40,000 + benefits * 4 on / 4 off shift pattern (days and nights) * Opportunity to work on a power generation site * Gain experience in a COMAH-regulated, high-hazard environment * Join a well-established and safety-focused operation * Develop skills within the energy and process industry Additional Information * Shift-based role (4 on / 4 off rotation) * 12-month fixed-term contract * Candidates must have the right to work in the UK Apply Now If you have experience as an Operator Technician, Plant Operator, or Process Operator and are looking for your next opportunity within the energy sector, we’d like to hear from you
