SHIP TECHNICIAN - BAE SYSTEMS (PORTSMOUTH)
12-Month Contract | Type 45 Destroyers | 12-Hour Day & Night Shifts | PAYE
BAE Systems is seeking skilled Ship Technicians to support critical maintenance and upgrade work on the Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyers in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-class defence project in a long-term, stable role.
📍 Location: Portsmouth
📅 Contract Duration: 12 Months
🛠 Project: Type 45 Destroyers
💼 Position: Ship Technician
⏱ Shifts: 12-hour Days & Nights (rotating pattern)
💰 Employment Type: PAYE
🔧 Role Overview:
Support mechanical, structural, or electrical work aboard Type 45 vessels
Carry out installations, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs
Read and interpret technical drawings and instructions
Work to MOD and BAE safety and quality standards
Collaborate with multi-trade teams on a busy shipyard
Understand Lock out and tag out procedures
Use of Safe systems of Work
Ex Navy preferred not required💷 PAYE Rates:
Shift
Hourly Rate
12-Hour Day Shift
£27.40/hour
12-Hour Night Shift
£33.22/hour
