Job Description

Our client in Northampton is looking for an experienced Shoe Room Operative to join their team. Monday to Thursday 07:30-16:30 Fridays 07:30-12:30 (30 minute lunch, 10 minute tea break) Salary is dependent on experience £12.21 - £13 Job Summary: The Shoe Room Operative is responsible for meticulously assembling and stitching various components of product uppers according to specifications, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to production targets. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and proficiency with industrial sewing machines and related equipment. Key Responsibilities: Final Finishing and Detailing: Cleaning, spraying, and polishing the shoe uppers (the main body). Antiquing, staining, waxing, and buffing the sole edges and heels. Fitting internal socks, insoles, laces, and adding decorative tags or embellishments.Quality Control (Final Inspection): Performing a meticulous final check of the shoe for any marks, defects, or quality issues. Ensuring the pair is an exact match in terms of colour, finish, and size.Preparation for Dispatch: Wrapping and packaging the finished shoes. Boxing the shoes and ensuring the correct labels/tickets are applied. Preparing the packaged goods for storage or shipment. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Proven experience manufacturing. Proficiency in operating various industrial sewing machines Strong understanding of different stitching techniques and materials Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Basic understanding of health and safety procedures in a manufacturing setting. Desirable: Formal training or apprenticeship in footwear manufacturing. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings or patterns. Problem-solving skills related to machine operation or material handling. Working Conditions: Primarily based in a manufacturing/factory environment. May involve prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Exposure to noise from machinery (appropriate PPE will be provided). Requirement to handle various materials, including leather, synthetics, and adhesives
