Job Summary:
The Signaller/Banksman plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and equipment on construction sites, warehouses, or industrial environments. This role involves directing vehicle drivers and machine operators during loading, unloading, and maneuvering tasks, maintaining clear communication, and adhering to strict health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide clear, concise, and effective hand signals or radio communication to guide drivers and operators during reversing, loading, and unloading of vehicles and plant machinery.
*
Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
*
Liaise with site managers, drivers, and machine operators to coordinate safe vehicle movements.
*
Identify potential hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately to site supervisors.
*
Assist in setting up exclusion zones and safe working areas to protect personnel and equipment.
*
Conduct regular checks on signaling equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
*
Maintain clear records of vehicle movements as required.
*
Support site teams with traffic management and ensure adherence to site traffic plans.
*
Participate in safety meetings and provide feedback on vehicle movement safety.
Skills and Qualifications:
*
Proven experience as a Signaller or Banksman on construction or industrial sites.
*
Knowledge of standard hand signals and radio communication protocols.
*
Strong understanding of health and safety legislation related to vehicle movements and site operations.
*
Ability to stay alert and maintain concentration during busy site activities.
*
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
*
Relevant certifications (e.g., CPCS Banksman card or equivalent) are highly desirable.
*
Valid CSCS card (or equivalent) preferred.
*
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
