Job Description

Abatec Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Agent to join a leading highways and civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across Somerset.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven Site Agent to secure long-term work on a high-profile highways scheme with a well-established contractor known for delivering complex infrastructure projects throughout the South West.

The Role

As Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the safe and successful delivery of highways works, ensuring projects are completed on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage day-to-day site operations on highways projects

  * Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant, and materials

  * Ensure works are delivered safely and in line with programme requirements

  * Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance

  * Review and implement RAMS, permits, and construction documentation

  * Liaise with Project Managers, engineers, clients, and stakeholders

  * Monitor site progress and produce regular updates and reports

  * Deliver toolbox talks and site briefings

Requirements

  * Proven experience as a Site Agent within highways or civil engineering

  * Strong background delivering highways infrastructure projects

  * SMSTS Certification

  * CSCS Card

  * First Aid at Work preferred

  * Knowledge of NEC contracts desirable

  * Strong leadership and communication skills

  * Ability to manage multiple site activities and subcontractors effectively
