Job Specification – Site Engineer (Highways) Contract Length: 4 Months (with potential extension)
Location: Major Highways Project (UK)
Employer: Tier 1 Main Contractor
Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a Tier 1 contractor on a major highways scheme. This role is suited to a proactive engineer with strong technical ability in highways works, particularly in drainage and pavement (asphalt) packages. The position requires flexibility, with occasional weekend working, and offers the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a nationally significant infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
Setting out and supervising works in line with project drawings, specifications, and SHW standards.
Overseeing the delivery of drainage and pavement (asphalt) works packages.
Maintaining quality assurance and ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards.
Providing technical support to site teams and subcontractors.
Completing site documentation including ITPs, as-builts, and daily records.
Coordinating with project management, design teams, and client representatives.
Supporting site health and safety initiatives and ensuring best practice.Requirements
Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
Valid CSCS card (essential).
CAT & Genny / HSG 47 training (advantageous).
SMSTS or SSSTS certification (preferred but not essential).
Availability to work weekends when required.Preferred Experience
Previous experience on major highways projects.
Familiarity with the Specification for Highway Works (SHW).
Strong technical knowledge of drainage and pavement (asphalt) works.
Demonstrable track record of delivering packages for Tier 1 contractors.What We Offer
