Site Agent – Civil Engineering
Location: Manchester
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 + Car Allowance & Package
Sector: Civil Engineering – Highways, Utilities, Earthworks, Drainage & Infrastructure
A leading Civil Engineering Contractor is seeking an experienced Site Agent to take responsibility for the delivery of a major multi-disciplinary infrastructure scheme in the North West. This role will oversee a diverse of procts including earthworks, reinforced concrete structures, deep drainage, highways (S278 & S38), and United Utilities works.
The Site Agent will be responsible for leading site operations, managing teams, coordinating temporary works, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage day-to-day site operations across earthworks, RC structures, drainage, and highways packages
* Develop and implement Construction Phase Plans, logistics plans, and plant/resource schedules
* Prepare and maintain programmes, including 4-week lookaheads, progress updates, and CE/variation programmes (MS Project)
* Produce accurate progress reports and cost-to-completion forecasts
* Chair progress and commercial meetings with clients and stakeholders
* Lead and coordinate site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to achieve programme targets
* Act as Temporary Works Coordinator and Appointed Person where required
* Ensure compliance with NEC & JCT contract requirements, supporting pricing and programming of CE’s/variations
* Oversee health, safety, environmental, and quality performance on site
Candidate Requirements:
* Strong background in civil engineering, ideally with experience in earthworks, drainage, RC structures, and highways (S278/S38)
* Previous experience in a Site Agent role with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
* Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred
* Proficient in Microsoft Project with the ability to update and develop programmes
* NEC & JCT contract knowledge with proven commercial awareness
* Experience as Temporary Works Coordinator and/or Appointed Person desirable
* Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills
