Job Description
Abatec is seeking an experienced Site Agent to join the team on the prestigious Devonport Dockyard Project in Plymouth. This project plays a critical role in the refurbishment and enhancement of key facilities at one of the Royal Navy’s most significant dockyards.
The successful candidate will lead site-based activities, ensuring that the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee day-to-day site operations and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
* Lead and manage a team of Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors.
* Liaise with the Project Manager, design teams, and client representatives.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the contract programme and specifications.
* Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures.
* Manage permits to work and ensure adherence to security and safety protocols within a high-security environment.
* Maintain accurate site records, reports, and progress updates.
* Support the development of junior staff through mentoring and guidance.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Site Agent (or similar role) on complex infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
* British / NATO national (in order for SC clearance to be successful)
* Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and QA/QC procedures.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience working on defence, marine, or high-security projects is highly desirable.
* SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold Card), and First Aid qualifications essential.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or related field.
Rates and Benefits
* £480 - £525 (PAYE/Umbrella)
