Our client is currently seeking a Site Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract basis in the Kings Lyn area. This role sits outside IR35, presenting a valuable opportunity for experienced professionals in the construction sector, particularly within National Highways SDF framework schemes. The role demands precision in survey and setting out services for street lighting and civil works projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Survey & Setting Out:
Establish accurate survey control networks for lighting schemes using GPS and conventional survey methods
Set out positions for lighting columns, ducting routes, chambers, and associated infrastructure
Conduct topographical surveys and utility detection surveys as required
Prepare and maintain accurate survey records and as-built drawings
Ensure all setting out complies with approved designs and National Highways geometric standards
Technical Coordination:
Work closely with design teams to resolve setting out queries and coordinate design changes
Interface with utility companies to confirm service locations and coordinate diversions
Coordinate with traffic management teams to optimise survey activities within traffic management constraints
Provide technical input on constructability and design optimisation
Support delivery teams with survey data and setting out requirements
Quality Assurance:
Conduct accuracy checks and validation of survey data
Maintain calibrated survey equipment and ensure traceability to national standards
Prepare survey certificates and accuracy statements for handover documentation
Ensure compliance with survey specifications and tolerance requirements
Support quality audits and inspections as required
Data Management:
Maintain survey databases and coordinate with asset management systems
Prepare survey deliverables in required formats (AutoCAD, GIS, BIM as specified)
Ensure survey data integrates with National Highways asset management requirements
Maintain backup procedures and data security protocols
Job Requirements:
HNC/Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience in engineering surveying, preferably infrastructure projects
Proficiency in GPS, total stations, and digital levels
Experience with AutoCAD and survey software packages
CSCS Card
Full UK driving licence
Strong understanding of coordinate systems and survey accuracy requirements
Desirable Qualifications:
Working towards chartered surveyor status (RICS)
Experience with National Highways projects and standards
Knowledge of BIM processes and 3D modelling
Utility detection and GPR experience
Experience with highway geometric design principles
