Job Description
Carmichael UK is working with a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure works on the HS2 project. We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background across earthworks, drainage, and structures to support delivery on a key section of the project in Buckinghamshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes, contributing to the successful delivery of multiple civil engineering packages.
The Role
As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of earthworks, drainage, and structures works, ensuring activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Setting out and overseeing earthworks, drainage, and structural works on site
Monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with design and specifications
Carrying out as-built surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records
Preparing and updating Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and supporting quality assurance processes
Producing site diaries and engineering documentation
Coordinating site activities with subcontractors, supervisors, and project teams
Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with HS2 standards and project procedures
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
Strong experience across earthworks, drainage, and structures (including reinforced concrete, culverts, or bridges)
Previous experience on major infrastructure or rail projects is highly advantageous
HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Good understanding of engineering documentation including ITPs, surveys, and quality records
Strong communication and organisational skills
