Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Site Engineer / Site Manager to join a major road widening and highways improvement scheme in the heart of Bath. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile infrastructure project for a well-established civil engineering contractor.

You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, ensuring the works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Depending on your background, the role will suit either a hands-on Site Engineer ready to take on more responsibility or an experienced Site Manager with a strong engineering understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Managing and coordinating daily site operations.

  * Setting out and overseeing road widening, drainage, kerbing and highways works.

  * Supervising subcontractors and direct labour.

  * Ensuring works are completed in line with programme, specifications and quality standards.

  * Maintaining site records, QA documentation and as-built information.

  * Carrying out site inspections and ensuring full compliance with health & safety legislation.

  * Liaising with the client, engineers and project management team.

  * Identifying and resolving technical and operational issues.

Requirements:

  * Proven experience delivering highways, road widening, earthworks or civil engineering projects.

  * Strong setting out experience using Total Stations and GPS (for Site Engineer applicants).

  * Previous site management experience on civil engineering projects (for Site Manager applicants).

  * Excellent knowledge of health & safety and quality procedures.

  * Ability to manage programmes, subcontractors and site resources effectively.

  * CSCS Card essential.

  * SMSTS preferred (essential for Site Manager applicants).

  * First Aid at Work desirable.

  * HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred.
