Site Engineer – Civil Engineering / Utilities
Location: Basingstoke, RG22 5NZ
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Car Allowance
Type: Permanent
Hours: 45 hours per week
We are recruiting for a Site Engineer to join our client’s team on a permanent basis in Basingstoke. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional with a strong background in setting out, utilities and civils infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working on projects involving sewers, open-cut trenching, drainage, pipelines and water/wastewater infrastructure.
The Role
As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for providing site engineering support, ensuring works are accurately set out and delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include:
Setting out works accurately in accordance with drawings and specifications.
Establishing levels and survey control across site.
Carrying out regular checks to ensure works are correctly positioned and constructed.
Supporting the delivery of sewer, drainage, pipeline and utility infrastructure.
Working on open-cut trenching and excavation activities.
Maintaining accurate site records, diaries and allocation sheets.
Producing and maintaining relevant ITPs, task briefings and engineering documentation.
Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise on site.
Working closely with the Site Agent and wider site team to plan upcoming works.
Supporting health, safety, environmental and quality requirements throughout the project.
Identifying opportunities for value engineering and improved working methods.
About You
We are looking for a Site Engineer with a genuine civil engineering/infrastructure background.
Essential experience:
Previous experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong setting-out experience.
Experience working with sewers, open-cut trenching and utilities/civils infrastructure.
Experience within water, wastewater, drainage or pipeline projects.
Good understanding of construction methods, health and safety and site procedures.
SSSTS or SMSTS.
Ability to work accurately from construction drawings and specifications.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Must live within approximately one hour of the Basingstoke site.
Desirable experience:
Previous Thames Water project experience.
Experience using robotic total stations, EDMs or other surveying equipment.
AutoCAD and MS Office experience.
Temporary works coordination experience.
CSCS card.
Experience working in a self-delivery environment, where works are delivered directly using the contractor's own site teams, operatives and plant.
Important Experience
This role is specifically suited to candidates from a civils/infrastructure background.
When we refer to utilities experience, we are not looking for residential utilities experience gained primarily on housing developments. We are looking for candidates who have worked on infrastructure projects involving areas such as:
Water
Wastewater
Sewers
Drainage
Pipelines
Open-cut trenching
Civil engineering infrastructure
