Are you a Site Engineer with highways experience looking to join a major infrastructure project in Cumbria?
We're recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of a large-scale highways scheme. This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term project, working alongside an experienced delivery team on complex civil engineering works including earthworks, drainage, structures and road construction.
The Opportunity
As a Site Engineer, you'll take ownership of day-to-day site engineering activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You'll work closely with site management, subcontractors and the wider engineering team to maintain programme, quality and compliance throughout construction.
What You'll Be Doing
·Setting out and carrying out dimensional control for highways and civil engineering works.
·Producing and maintaining accurate survey records and as-built information.
·Reading and interpreting engineering drawings including drainage, earthworks, structures and reinforcement details.
·Managing subcontractors and supervising site operations.
·Producing Works Package Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Task Briefings.
·Issuing Permit to Dig documentation and delivering daily briefings to site teams.
·Monitoring progress against programme and assisting with short-term planning.
·Completing quality inspections, check sheets and site documentation.
·Carrying out site safety inspections, hazard identification and ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
·Supporting and mentoring graduate or trainee engineers where required.
What We're Looking For
·Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways or major civil engineering projects.
·Around 2-3 years' experience working with a Tier 1 or major civil engineering contractor.
·Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
·Valid CSCS Card and full UK driving licence.
·SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
·Strong setting out experience using modern surveying equipment.
·Good understanding of earthworks, drainage, pavements, structures or roadworks.
·Excellent knowledge of health, safety and quality procedures.
·Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and manage site activities.
Desirable experience includes temporary works, utilities and lifting operations, along with progress towards a professional engineering qualification.
