Nelson Recruitment are looking for a proactive and hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated facilities team at our Distribution & Packaging Centre in Fradley Park, Lichfield. This is a varied role where you will support both our high-performance packaging machinery and the wider warehouse infrastructure, helping to keep our operation running safely, efficiently and reliably.
Working closely with the Facilities Manager, internal operational teams and external contractors, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, respond quickly to breakdowns, support continuous improvement projects and help maintain excellent Health & Safety standards across the site.
Hours: 08:00-16:30
Salary: Dependant on experience
About the Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining five packaging machines while also supporting the upkeep of building systems and warehouse facilities, including HVAC, lighting and safety systems. You will play a key part in reducing downtime, improving maintenance processes and ensuring the site remains compliant, safe and operational.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and troubleshoot five packaging machines, ensuring minimal downtime
* Carry out general building maintenance across the warehouse, including HVAC, lighting, and safety systems
* Diagnose and resolve technical issues across electrical and mechanical systems
* Support project work and continuous improvement initiatives
* Work at height (up to 18 meters) using MEWP equipment
* Liaise with external contractors and internal operational partners
* Optimise and implement preventive maintenance schedules using CMMS
* Provide technical support and training to operational staff
* Champion Health & Safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies
What We’re Looking For
* Experience in a maintenance engineering role within a warehouse, manufacturing, production, packaging or distribution environment
* Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
* Experience maintaining packaging machinery, conveyors, automation or material handling equipment would be beneficial
* Knowledge of planned preventive maintenance schedules and CMMS systems
* Confident working with contractors and internal stakeholders
* A proactive approach to problem-solving, safety and continuous improvement
* Comfortable working at height, including use of MEWP equipment, or willing to undertake relevant training
