Job Description

Site Manager – Groundworks & Civils

Location: Surrey
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Long-Term / Ongoing

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join an established groundworks and civils contractor on a long-term project in Surrey.

The project involves groundworks and civil engineering works associated with a large building extension. The successful Site Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site, coordinating multiple gangs and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  * Manage and coordinate 3–4 groundworks/civils gangs working across site.

  * Oversee daily site activities, ensuring works are completed to programme and specification.

  * Coordinate labour, plant, materials and deliveries to ensure the project remains on schedule.

  * Manage material and plant orders, liaising with suppliers and subcontractors.

  * Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with RAMS, H&S procedures and site requirements.

  * Monitor quality of works and ensure any issues are identified and addressed promptly.

  * Liaise with the Project Manager, engineers, subcontractors and client representatives.

  * Maintain accurate site records, daily reports and relevant project documentation.

  * Attend site meetings and provide regular updates on progress.

  * Ideally utilise Procore for site documentation, reporting and project management.

Requirements:

  * Previous experience working as a Site Manager within groundworks and civils.

  * Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage, concrete and general civil engineering operations.

  * Proven ability to manage multiple gangs and subcontractors effectively.

  * Good knowledge of health & safety requirements and site procedures.

  * Strong organisational and communication skills.

  * Procore experience is desirable, although training can be provided for the right candidate.

  * Valid CSCS and SMSTS.
