Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to join a well-established main contractor delivering projects across Leicester and the wider East Midlands region. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a reputable business that has a strong pipeline of projects across multiple sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  * Oversee all on-site activities from commencement through to completion.

  * Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site labour to ensure efficient project delivery.

  * Ensure works are completed in line with project programmes, specifications and quality standards.

  * Maintain full compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

  * Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and regular safety inspections.

  * Monitor progress and resolve any site issues to minimise delays.

  * Liaise with clients, consultants and senior management teams.

  * Maintain accurate site records, reports and project documentation.

  * Drive quality standards and ensure client expectations are met.

Candidate Requirements

  * Proven experience as a Site Manager working for a main contractor.

  * Experience delivering commercial, industrial, education, healthcare or mixed-use projects.

  * Strong understanding of construction processes and health & safety legislation.

  * Excellent leadership and communication skills.

  * Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and workstreams simultaneously.

  * Valid SMSTS certification.

  * Valid CSCS card (Black or White preferred).

  * First Aid at Work qualification.

  * Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

  * Experience managing projects valued between £1m and £20m+.

  * Temporary Works Coordinator or Supervisor certification.

  * Knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.

  * Experience managing projects from groundworks through to handover.
