Freelance Site Manager - Highways Structures

Location: Northamptonshire & Surrounding Regions
 Contract Type: Freelance (Inside IR35)
 Duration: Initial 3-6 Month Contract (Potential Extension)
 Rate: Competitive Day Rate or Hourly Rate DOE
 Start Date: Immediate Start Available

About the Role

We are actively seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee the delivery of highways structures projects across Northamptonshire and surrounding regions. This is an excellent opportunity for a contractor looking for their next freelance assignment on a busy programme of highways infrastructure works. 
The successful candidate will have a proven background in highways structures and be responsible for managing site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day site activities on highways structures projects.
Coordinate subcontractors, labour, plant and materials.
Ensure all works are completed in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
Review and implement RAMS, permits and construction documentation.
Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, local authorities and project delivery teams.
Monitor progress against programme and drive project delivery.
Maintain accurate site records and reporting documentation.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience working as a Site Manager within the Highways sector.
Strong background delivering Highways Structures projects, including bridges, retaining walls, culverts and associated infrastructure.
SMSTS.
NRSWA Supervisor qualification.
Valid CSCS Card.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Thorough understanding of highways construction and site safety requirements.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).
First Aid at Work.
Experience working on National Highways or Local Authority frameworks.
Civil Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
