Job Description

My client is an established construction contractor who requires an experienced Site Manager for a short-term hotel project based in Harrogate.
The initial requirement is for approximately 3 weeks. However, for the right Site Manager who performs well during this assignment, our client would be happy to consider moving them directly onto a separate 26-week hotel project after this one finishes.
This provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced freelance Site Manager to initially complete the three-week package, with the potential for approximately six months' additional work with the same contractor.
The Role
Reporting to a visiting Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the works on site over the initial three-week period.
During the first week, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the demolition and internal rip-out works, ensuring these are carried out safely and in accordance with the programme.
During weeks two and three, the project will move onto the groundworks package, where you will be responsible for managing the Groundworkers and coordinating the day-to-day works.
  * You will be assisted during the groundworks package by a Site Engineer, who will support with the technical and engineering requirements of the works.
  * Manage the demolition and rip-out works during the first week
  * Manage and coordinate the groundworks package during weeks two and three
  * Day-to-day management and coordination of subcontractors on site
  * Work alongside and coordinate with the Site Engineer during the groundworks package
  * Manage site Health & Safety and ensure all works are completed safely
  * Monitor progress against the construction programme
  * Organisation and coordination of subcontractors, materials and deliveries
  * Ensure works are completed to the required quality standards
  * Keeping accurate site records including subcontractor attendance and progress
  * Liaising with the visiting Contracts Manager regarding progress and any issues arising on site
  * Ensure each stage of the works is completed safely and on programme
About You
Ideally, you will have previous experience managing hotel or commercial construction projects and be confident taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of a site.
For this particular assignment, previous experience managing demolition, strip-out and groundworks packages would be highly advantageous.
You must be confident managing Groundworkers and have a good understanding of the sequencing and coordination of groundworks, although you will have the assistance of an experienced Site Engineer during this stage of the project.
Our client is particularly interested in Site Managers who can demonstrate a strong track record and would potentially be suitable to move directly onto their 26-week hotel project following successful completion of this initial assignment.
  * Previous Site Management experience
  * Experience managing demolition and rip-out works
  * Good understanding of groundworks packages
  * Confident managing Groundworkers and subcontractors
  * Hotel or commercial construction experience advantageous
  * Strong Man Management Skills
  * Excellent team working and communication skills
  * Strong understanding of construction programmes and sequencing of trades
  * Self-motivation with energy and drive
  * SMSTS, CSCS & First Aid At Work
  * Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
