Job Description
Site Manager – Structural Steel
Location: Birmingham
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
I am recruiting for a Site Manager on behalf of a respected structural steel contractor. This is a hands-on site-based role, responsible for managing the full delivery of structural steel packages on live construction projects.
Candidates must have a Black CSCS Card – this is non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day site operations from mobilisation to completion.
*
Manage the installation of structural steelwork in line with project plans and specifications.
*
Coordinate and supervise site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
*
Ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
*
Monitor progress and report regularly to the project team.
*
Conduct and attend regular site meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
*
Enforce Health & Safety compliance and company procedures on-site.
*
Resolve site-based issues and escalate as required.
*
Liaise with the project manager, commercial team, and design team as needed.
*
Maintain accurate site records, including RAMS, site diaries, and reports.
Requirements:
*
Proven experience as a Site Manager in the structural steelwork sector.
*
Black CSCS Card – essential.
*
SMSTS and First Aid certifications.
*
Strong understanding of structural steel erection methods and safe practices.
*
Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
*
Strong communication and leadership skills.
*
Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively on-site.
