Freelance Site Manager - Barrow-in-Furness Project: £10m - New build primary school Location: Barrow-in-Furness Duration: 12 Months Job Type: Freelance / Contract Reporting into: Senior Site Manager About the Company A UK major main construction and engineering contractor with over 100 years' experience in the build industry. The Opportunity As an experienced Site Manager, you will lead and coordinate the site team on a £10m new build primary school based in Barrow-in-Furness. The role will involve full responsibility for managing on-site operations, from initial demolition works through to project completion, ensuring quality, safety and programme targets are consistently achieved. What We're Looking For Relevant Qualifications: SMSTS First Aid CSCS CardExperience: Demonstrated success in managing and delivering new build education projects Proven experience in successfully delivering projects with build values in excess of £5m A strong background in the industry, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a site management role for a leading contractorKey Skills: Competent IT / software skills Comprehensive health and safety knowledge Effective communication skills, verbal and written Ability to organise and manage project schedules A solid understanding of relevant regulations and standards Proven ability to lead, support, and direct a team effectively Knowledgeable of construction processes, techniques, and materials In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and building processes Exceptional focus on detail to ensure adherence to quality standards and specificationsKey Responsibilities Inductions Tool box talks Oversee subcontractors Liaise with stakeholders and sub-contractors Coordinate tasks among various construction phases Report and work closely with the Senior Site Manager Keep track of project expenditures, remaining within budget constraints Supervise and coordinate delivery of internal and external works packages Oversee workmanship and materials to verify they align with project standards Adhere to health and safety regulations and policies during all work operations Manage and address any challenges or disputes throughout the project lifecycle Communicate regularly and effectively maintaining strong relationships with clients Recognise possible threats to the project, implementing strategies to address them Monitor resources, such as equipment and materials, ensuring they are used efficiently Coordinate across multiple trades to uphold a smooth workflow and achieve timely completion Manage daily site activities, overseeing the supervision of workers, sub-contractors and suppliers Managing resources such as materials, equipment, and labor to ensure they are used efficiently and effectively Maintain precise documentation of all project elements, including contracts, permits, change orders, and correspondence Coordinate and oversee regulatory inspections, ensuring timely implementation of required corrections or adjustmentsWhy Join?
