Job Title: Site Supervisor – North Devon
Location: Field-based across Barnstaple, Bideford, Bude, Ilfracombe (Office base: Barnstaple)
Salary: Starting from £36,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP

Our client, Western Counties Roofing Ltd, has been a respected leader in the roofing industry for over 30 years. With offices in Newton Abbot, Bodmin, Wellington, and Barnstaple, they provide high-quality roofing services across the Southwest. Their specialties include slating, tiling, leadwork, green roofs, metal sheeting, cladding, standing seam systems, single ply membranes, and aluminium flashings.

Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Site Supervisor to support their Contracts Manager in managing day-to-day operations across roofing projects in North Devon, including Barnstaple, Bideford, Bude, and Ilfracombe.
The successful candidate will oversee approximately 15 live contracts, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a field-based position that requires the candidate to reside within a commutable distance to the North Devon area.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out pre-roof inspections to confirm scaffold readiness and materials availability
* Conduct mid-roof inspections to verify compliance with specs, including fixings and firebreaks
* Complete final sign-offs upon project completion
* Deliver toolbox talks to site teams
* Log site communications via an internal company app
* Monitor on-site material stock levels
* Coordinate plot scheduling with site teams and the Contracts Manager
* Supervise tradespeople and general labourers
* Maintain close communication with the internal buying department to avoid delays
* Attend weekly subcontractor meetings on-site
* Join weekly progress meetings at the Newton Abbot office
Candidate Requirements
* Positive, proactive attitude with a hands-on approach
* Valid UK driving licence
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in construction or roofing
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices and legislation
* Well-developed organisational and communication skills
* Ability to manage pressure and multiple priorities
* Valid CSCS Card
Package Offered
* Salary: From £36,000 per annum (depending on experience)
* Company van provided (subject to HMRC regulations)
* Office base: Barnstaple
* 33 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
* Auto-enrolment pension scheme
* Permanent, full-time role
* Working hours: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm (site-based, no remote working)
