We are looking for someone who as a TA is empathetic, patient, resilient, and able to engage with students facing complex needs. Experience as a TA in SEMH, special education or a similar setting is preferred, though full training will be offered.
About the School Setting
You’ll be working in an independent specialist school for boys aged 7–18. The school has capacity for approximately 75 pupils, with small class sizes that enable each TA to build strong, supportive relationships with learners. The setting is tailored for students with SEMH needs, providing a calm and structured environment that emphasises both personal wellbeing and academic progress.
Location
Based in a rural / semi-rural area near Brampton, Cumbria, the setting is peaceful, conducive to therapeutic work, yet accessible by road from surrounding towns. The location also supports outdoor learning and a focus on holistic development.
About The CatchUp Academy
At The CatchUp Academy, we believe that every student deserves support that addresses both their emotional resilience and academic needs. We specialise in partnering with specialist settings to deliver high-quality, personalised learning for learners with SEMH, learning differences, and other barriers to full participation in school life.
In our team, every TA is central: you will be supported, developed, and trusted to make a real difference. We provide training, mentorship, and a culture that values wellbeing, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
*
A compassionate, skilled TA with experience or strong interest in SEMH or special educational needs
*
Ability to adapt resources and lesson activities as a TA to suit individual students’ plans and learning styles
*
Strong communication skills with pupils, staff, and where relevant, parents / care networks
*
Resilience, patience, creativity, and a calm approach as a TA in challenging situations
*
Commitment to both academic and personal growth, and willingness to contribute to the broader school life as a TA
