About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Social Work Practice Manager to lead and develop a small, high-performing team of Social Workers (4) within a respected private provider of Family Assessment and Residential Services.
This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you'll balance practice oversight with quality assurance, team development, and strategic input - without the bureaucracy and overload of local authority structures.
You'll ensure the delivery of consistent, child-focused, trauma-informed assessments across the organisation's Ofsted-regulated homes and Family Assessment Centres. You'll also work closely with Registered Managers, clinical teams, and the senior leadership group to embed safe and effective social work practice across all services.
👥 Team Leadership & Key Responsibilities
Line-manage a team of 4 Social Workers across residential and assessment settings
Oversee and quality assure all parenting assessments, reports, and safeguarding interventions
Provide regular supervision, reflective practice, and guidance to your team
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or deputy, contributing to risk management processes
Coordinate with multi-agency partners (local authorities, courts, legal reps)
Lead on practice development, audit, and continuous improvement
Maintain and promote a culture of child safety, ethical practice, and professional integrityWhat We're Looking For
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
Strong background in children and families services - ideally including residential, court work, and assessments
Previous supervisory, management, or senior practitioner experience
Excellent report-writing and quality assurance skills
Ability to lead with empathy, confidence, and professionalism
