Social Personnel are working in partnership with Richmond and Wandsworth Councils to recruit an experienced and committed Mental Health Social Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive and supportive team delivering vital mental health services to adults across both boroughs.
As a Mental Health Social Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering holistic, strengths-based interventions that empower service users to maintain independence and live well with mental health needs.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Carrying out mental health assessments in line with the Care Act and Mental Health Act
*
Supporting individuals with complex mental health needs, often in crisis or high-risk situations
*
Working collaboratively with psychiatrists, GPs, AMHPs, community health teams, housing and voluntary agencies
*
Participating in safeguarding adult enquiries and creating risk management/safety plans
*
Promoting recovery-based models of care that centre the voice of the service user
*
Navigating court processes when needed (e.g. Mental Capacity Act assessments, community treatment orders, or deprivation of liberty concerns)
What We’re Looking For:
*
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
*
Experience in adult mental health services or similar high-complexity settings
*
Understanding of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Human Rights Act
*
Confidence in multi-agency working, crisis intervention, and safeguarding practices
*
A strengths-based, person-centred approach and a commitment to reflective, anti-discriminatory practice
*
AMHP qualification desirable but not essential – support will be provided to train if eligible
