Social Worker - Children's Social Work Teams - Medway Council
Up to £41,956 + £5,000 Market Premia + £2,000 Annual Retention Payment
Medway Council is recruiting a skilled and committed Social Worker to join their Children's Social Work Teams. This role involves working proactively with children and families requiring statutory intervention using the Signs of Safety model. You will be responsible for implementing child protection and child in need plans aimed at safeguarding children and supporting families toward stability or, when necessary, legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload using Signs of Safety to undertake assessments, prepare SMART plans, and review case progress with clear outcomes
Engage directly with children and families to understand their lived experiences, wishes, and feelings
Maintain accurate, timely records and prepare reports for Child Protection Conferences, court proceedings, and other statutory meetings
Work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals and agencies to promote children's safety and wellbeing
Participate in regular reflective supervision and keep up to date with current research, legislation, and best practice
About You:
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Successful completion of ASYE
Experience working with children and families in statutory settings
Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in Signs of Safety
Skilled in child protection, direct work, and court-related processes
Strong assessment, report-writing, and multi-agency working skills
Commitment to strengths-based, relationship-focused practice

Work Style:
Hybrid working model - minimum 2 days per week in the office and flexibility for other locations. The role requires occasional duty weeks spent fully office-based.
