👧👦 Social Worker - Children's Services (Adoption Team)
📍 Location: North Street, Burnley, BB10 1LU (covering Lancashire, Blackpool & out of county)
🕘 Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00
💷 Pay Rate: Up to £36.00 per hour (Umbrella)
🌟 About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join the Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool team within Children's Services, based in Burnley.
This position focuses on supporting, assessing, and approving adoptive families and helping children find loving, permanent homes. You'll be part of a committed Recruitment & Assessment Team, ensuring adopters receive high-quality support and training throughout their journey.
💼 Key Responsibilities
👩👧 Complete comprehensive assessments of prospective adopters and present detailed Prospective Adopter Reports (PARs) to the Adoption Panel.
🤝 Guide and support adoptive applicants through matching and placement processes.
🎓 Plan and deliver preparation and training sessions for prospective adopters.
🧩 Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies across Lancashire, Blackpool, and out-of-county areas.
💻 Maintain accurate case records and use IT systems effectively in line with agency policies.
💡 Participate in team meetings, service development, and regional/national adoption events.
✅ Essential Requirements
✔️ Minimum 3 years' experience in a permanent post within a local authority.
✔️ No permanent or fixed-term post held within the last 12 weeks.
✔️ Experience completing assessments similar to Prospective Adopter Reports.
✔️ Clean driving licence and ability to travel across Lancashire, Blackpool, and out of county when required.
✔️ Preferably experience within adoption work (not essential).
✔️ Registered with Social Work England.
✔️ Strong IT and systems experience.
