Social Worker - Looked After Children's Team

Are you an experienced and compassionate Social Worker dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in care? Leeds City Council is looking for a committed individual to join our highly valued Looked After Children's (LAC) Team.
About the Role:
As a Social Worker within our Looked After Children's Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being, stability, and positive development of children and young people who are in the care of Leeds City Council. You will hold a diverse and complex caseload, working directly with children, their families, carers, and a range of professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for each child.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build meaningful relationships with children and young people in care, understanding their wishes, feelings, and needs.
* Develop, implement, and review comprehensive care plans that reflect each child's individual circumstances and aspirations.
* Undertake statutory visits to children in their placements, ensuring their safety, well-being, and progress.
* Prepare for and attend statutory reviews, actively participating in decision-making processes.
* Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential staff, parents, and other professionals (e.g., health, education, CAMHS) to provide holistic support.
* Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings, statutory reviews, and other relevant meetings.
* Support young people transitioning to independence, working closely with leaving care services.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with policies and procedures.
About You:
* A qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
* Demonstrable post-qualifying experience in children's social care, with a strong emphasis on working with Looked After Children.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and the Children and Families Act 2014.
* Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, formulate plans, and manage risk effectively.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
* A child-centered approach, demonstrating empathy, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding.
* Ability to manage a demanding caseload, prioritise effectively, and work autonomously.
* Possession of a valid UK driving licence and access to a car for business use.
