Mental Health Social Worker
Blackburn with Darwen Council
Up to £30 per hour
Are you a passionate, experienced Mental Health Social Worker looking for a demanding yet highly rewarding role within a supportive and dynamic team? Join Blackburn with Darwen Council and help us deliver person-centred care and support to our residents.
Key responsibilities
* Undertaking complex social care assessments under the Care Act 2014, focusing on a strengths-based approach that supports independence and resilience.
* Leading Section 42 safeguarding enquiries.
* Conducting assessments under the Mental Capacity Act 2005, ensuring people can make informed choices about their mental health and well-being.
* Managing a realistic caseload with the autonomy to prioritise work based on need and risk.
* Developing high-quality care and support plans and reviewing outcomes.
* Working closely within a strong multidisciplinary framework to ensure the best outcomes for our residents.
Your Development
We understand the complexity of the legislative framework and offer a generous training programme. While a basic understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 is expected, you will have excellent opportunities to further develop your legal knowledge and expertise.
We actively encourage and welcome applications from qualified Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) and Best Interests Assessors (BIAs) and recognise the specialist skills, expertise and legal knowledge you bring to the team.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for individuals who embody professionalism, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to social work values:
* Relevant mental health and social care experience in a statutory setting.
* A genuine passion for working with people using a strengths-based approach.
* Proven ability to implement the Care Act 2014 and complete high-quality assessments and care/support plans.
* Ability to work autonomously and be flexible and responsive to the needs of the people you support and your colleagues.
* Experience of working with people of varying care and support needs.
* Current registration as a Social Worker with Social Work England (or close to registration if a final year student).
* A clean driving licence and access to a car for travel across the BoroughBefore You Apply
