Job Description

Mental Health Social Worker - Reviews Team London Borough of Ealing Up to £32 per hour The London Borough of Ealing is seeking experienced and dedicated Mental Health Social Workers to join our specialist Reviews Team within the integrated Mental Health Unit, co-located with West London NHS Trust. This is a critical role focused on ensuring continuous, person-centred, and lawful support for adults with primary mental health needs across the borough. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible under the Care Act (2014) for assessing and reviewing the social care needs of adults with mental health needs. Your duties will be varied and highly specialised: * Review and Support Planning: Conducting comprehensive reviews of social care needs and creating high-quality, person-centred, strengths-based support plans to ensure optimal outcomes for residents. * Mental Capacity Act (MCA): Undertaking Capacity Assessments and contributing to complex best interests decision-making under the MCA 2005. * Mental Health Act (MHA): Completing Social Circumstances Tribunal reports and fulfilling the statutory role of Social Supervision for conditionally discharged patients (s37/41 MHA). * Safeguarding: Acting as a Safeguarding Enquiry Officer, working closely with a Safeguarding Adults Manager to make enquiries, manage risk, and ensure people’s individual safeguarding outcomes are met. The service holds the statutory responsibility for undertaking safeguarding enquiries for adults with mental health needs. * Duty System: Contributing to the team’s duty system on a rota basis, which is responsible for screening incoming referrals, managing safeguarding concerns, and responding to complex queries. * Interventions and Timescales: Applying robust assessment and intervention skills to complete all professional duties within the team’s required timescales. What We Are Looking For We are seeking Social Workers who possess a deep and demonstrable understanding of the relevant legal frameworks: * Legislation: Solid grasp of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), and the Human Rights Act 1998. * Practice: An ability to demonstrate professional curiosity and a commitment to working in a strength-based way. * Experience: Experience with complex legal proceedings, including Court of Protection Schedule 21A challenges, will be highly considered during the recruitment process. * MDT Working: Ability to work effectively within our robustly planned multidisciplinary framework, co-located with health colleagues. Driving is desirable but not essential for this role, which requires working across the borough of Ealing
