Sociology Teacher Start Date: September 2025 Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed Term (until 31st August 2026) Pay Range: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience and qualifications) Location: Stratford-upon-Avon About the Role TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with a high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Warwickshire. Due to increasing student numbers and recent site development, the school is seeking to appoint a passionate and creative Teacher of Sociology to join their thriving Humanities faculty. Teaching and Learning Teach Sociology and potentially related Humanities subjects at Key Stage 4 and/or 5. Ensure lessons are engaging, inclusive, and meet curriculum requirements. Set and assess homework and classwork in line with school policy. Keep accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback. Participate in external and internal assessment processes. Prepare and adapt learning materials and schemes of work. Uphold school-wide expectations regarding punctuality, discipline, and standards. Person Specification Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Honours degree Degree and/or teaching qualification in Sociology, Citizenship, Politics, History, Psychology, or Criminology Evidence of recent and relevant professional development Experience Experience of teaching in a secondary school (11-16 or 11-18) Ability to teach the following to KS4/5: Sociology (KS4/5) Flexibility to contribute to other subject areas as needed Proven record of supporting student progress and addressing underachievement Teaching Skills Strong subject knowledge and understanding of effective pedagogy Awareness of current curriculum developments High proficiency with IT and use of digital tools in education Experience using data to plan interventions and improve student outcomes Key Competencies and Attributes Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to inspire, engage, and challenge students of all abilities Strong organisational and time-management skills Commitment to inclusive and comprehensive education Resilience, creativity, and the ability to work under pressure Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Professional Development Evidence of engagement in continued professional learning Willingness to support the development of colleagues and share best practice Interest in participating in wider school professional activities Additional Information Must share the ethos and values of the school community Willingness to engage in whole-school initiatives, events, and enrichment activities Subject to Enhanced DBS clearance Experience of leading or willingness to participate in curriculum-linked trips or visits How to Apply To apply, please contact Alex on (phone number removed) or email your CV to alex.thacker@(url removed) All applicants will be contacted to discuss suitability and then invited to register with TeacherActive.
