We are currently seeking a talented and driven Software Controls Design Engineer to join our expanding engineering team. You'll work on a wide range of bespoke control and automation projects, from initial concept through to commissioning โ using industry-leading platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, and AVEVA System Platform.

๐ Responsibilities
*
Design, develop, and test PLC and SCADA/HMI software solutions from scratch for industrial automation systems.
*
Prepare functional design specifications (FDS), I/O lists, and control philosophy documents.
*
Configure and deploy HMI/SCADA platforms such as WinCC, FTView SE/ME, and AVEVA InTouch/System Platform.
*
Conduct FAT and SAT testing and manage full software lifecycle delivery.
*
Work collaboratively with electrical design engineers, panel builders, and project managers.
*
Carry out on-site commissioning and support post-installation troubleshooting.
*
Maintain thorough documentation and ensure project compliance with customer standards and regulations.
โ๏ธ Essential Skills & Experience
*
Proven experience in industrial automation, preferably in a systems integrator or OEM environment.
*
Strong knowledge of one or more PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider).
*
Hands-on experience with HMI/SCADA software development (e.g., WinCC, FTView, AVEVA).
*
Strong grasp of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
*
Ability to interpret P&IDs, control schematics, and instrumentation drawings.
*
Good understanding of safety systems, process control loops, and control panel architecture.
*
Comfortable working across the full lifecycle: concept, design, testing, commissioning.
๐ก Desirable Attributes
*
Degree or HND in Electrical, Control, or Software Engineering (or equivalent experience).
*
Exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies, cloud dashboards, or IIoT integration.
*
Experience in sectors such as water treatment, food & beverage, chemical, or pharma.
*
Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning (UK and occasional international).
