Location: Remote (Quarterly Planning Sessions Required)
Remuneration: £600 per day via Umbrella Company

Overview
Our client is seeking a senior Back End Software Engineer to take the reins in designing, building, and supporting scalable cloud and on-premise platforms. This exciting role focuses on enhancing system performance, reliability, security, and automation while collaborating with development, QA, DevOps, and operational teams. The successful candidate will be a technical subject matter expert, driving engineering best practises and operational excellence in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities:
Design and deploy scalable, high-performance backend systems and platforms.
Monitor, maintain, and optimise large-scale distributed systems.
Automate deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management processes.
Lead incident resolution, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities.
Ensure systems meet security, compliance, and resilience requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, QA, DevOps, and support teams to enhance platform performance.
Support capacity planning and initiatives for future scalability.
Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Champion Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Solid understanding of containerisation and orchestration technologies.
Proven experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Strong scripting or programming skills, particularly in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
In-depth knowledge of large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Grafana, or ELK.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards.
Experience working in Agile development environments.
